When I saw Samantha (name changed for confidentiality) beaming at the front desk, I wasn’t sure if I had missed a good joke.  She was laughing and much more open socially than she had been in the past.  She asked if I had a moment to talk.  “Of course” I replied.  Honestly, I wasn’t ready for what she would say next.

“I want you to know that the exercise work we did for my back has really helped.  But not just that, it is more pervasive than that.  I FEEL CHANGED.Spiritually, emotionally and physically.  I feel more open to the world, and ready for the world.  I wanted you to know that.”

You could have knocked me over with a feather and my eyes well up a bit even now as I recall it.  Truly, there was a different person sitting before me than had walked in the door of our clinic five months earlier.  You could see and sense it.

What happens when we change our postural center?  Do we not also change our spiritual and emotional center?  What a funny notion that these are separate and divisible things.  What happens when our posture is opened up to the world after being caved inward for decades?  How much information is held within the way we hold ourselves?  How much do we reveal our current mood and state of being with every held position?  What a wonderful lesson learned form Samantha that day.  I am going to go look in the mirror.  Be well
